Audit Trail

An audit trail is the behind-the-scenes record that proves how a document was signed. It typically captures each signer's name and email, timestamps for when the document was viewed and signed, IP addresses, and the sequence of events, exported as a certificate attached to the final PDF.

This record is what gives an electronic signature its legal weight. If a signature is ever challenged, the audit trail is the evidence that the right person signed, at a specific time, intending to agree. Every document signed through Popform includes one automatically.
